The nobel price Jorge Saramago talks about SECONDLIFE. I think it's the first time a nobel price talks about that. Good new for second life.
PS: The pity is that this interview is in portuguese. If any wants to translate it in english it will be very welcome!

Well, actually this interview is in Spanish. Jorge Saramago is Portuguese but in this video, he's speaking in Spanish (with a Portuguese accent). If I have time I'll try to translate it into English.

A great French poet from the last century, Raimbaud, once wrote: "La vraie vie est ailleurs", which means that "Real life is not here", as if he figured out that real life was not enough. Real life, authentical life is elsewhere. To be honest, we
don't know what Raimbaud really meant by authentical life. I think that he meant that his life lacked of authenticity. Here occurs the opposite. We are in real world, and suddenly, they represent ourselves, if we want it, in a virtual world, 2nd life's virtual world. The very title of the game is very close to the feeling that what we have is not enough, that there is something else. The problem is that, seeking it, if ever we are able to find it, we are not able to identify it. But I think that it [Second Life] is not the good way because if we feel the need to create something different from our lives that are not so bad (because we're privileged people), it means that we would have to change a lot of things. The greater danger [with Second Life] is that it becomes, in the future or even nowadays (one million people are involved), an addiction that lockes
oneself in his own mind. We could even ask ourselves what's more real [real life or virtual life?] if we share with our [virtual] character our frustrations, dreams, fears, everything that makes so complex our interior life, and suffer schizophrenia. Imagine that all over the world, everyone enters the game, I fear that ingame, life would turn out to be worse than our real life. It frightens me, I have to say that it frightens me.
